On November 26, 2017 a round table devoted to commemorating the 85th Anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine was held in Doha by of the Embassy of Ukraine in the State of Qatar. The Ambassador of Ukraine to Qatar H.E. Mr. Yevhen Mykytenko in his speech highlighted the terrible events of the 1932-1933 Holodomor in Ukraine which was inspired by the Soviet regime led by J. Stalin.
In addition, the audience paid a tribute to the victims of Holodomor by observing a minute of silence, after which they had the opportunity to watch a presentation and documentary film on Holodomor.
Thereafter, a lively exchange of views was held among the participants of the round table with a focus on the importance of widespread popularization of the Holodomor in the Middle East and the Muslim world in order to recognize it as an act of genocide against the Ukrainian people in the future. In particular, ambassadors of Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, Canada, Panama, Swaziland, Syria, Croatia, Charges d`Affairs of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Germany, Poland, diplomats from other diplomatic missions of foreign countries, as well as representatives of the media participated in the debate.
