The 23rd General Assembly of International Civil Defense Organization- ICDO kicked off in Doha

Under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the 23rd General Assembly of International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) kicked off in Doha on 27th 2018 with the presence of ministers and senior officials specialising in emergencies and civil defence from 48 countries.

The Deputy Minister of Security of B&H, HE Mijo Krešić, accompanied by his advisor  Daniel Nikolić represent our country. Ambassador of B&H to the State of Qatar HE Tarik Sadović attended the opening ceremony in Hotel Sheraton.

The three-day event will discuss a number of topics related to the organisation’s line of work, its development, internal laws and future plans. The event will witness a field exercise by General Directorate of Civil Defense in collaboration with Search and Rescue team of Lekhwiya at Ras Laffan Emergency College.

Secretary-General of ICDO Dr. Vladimir Kuvshinov said the meeting will be a platform to exchange ideas and expertise to develop mechanisms of civil defence in member states, adding that it will also provide a chance for the attendees to take a close look at the civil defence facilities in Qatar.

He stressed that only through cooperation among Member States can be made positive things, noting that no country was able to raise the challenges alone, that underscores the importance of collaboration among states to move the Organization forward in its work.
ICDO is the only intergovernmental organization specializing in the field of civil defense and protection at the international level, which includes 55 states as full members, 19 states have observer status.
